Lionsgate has officially announced the film adaptation of "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," the new book by author Suzanne Collins, set to premiere in 2026. PREMISE:
The new film will take place 24 years before the first book of the original trilogy, during the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The focus will be on the victor: Haymitch Abernathy, a character immortalized by Woody Harrelson in previous films. This will be the first time we see the Hunger Games from Haymitch's perspective as a tribute, revealing the horrors of his past, his brutal strategies, and the scars he will carry for a lifetime.
